Nutritionist Ottawa - Packages and Rates - Sara

Health Assessment & Personalized Meal Planning:

The old saying goes: ‘you are what you eat.’ But we are not only what we eat, but what we absorb and assimilate as well. Working together, I provide clients with an opportunity to revamp their diet and lifestyle, with a plan that is individualized to achieve the health goals they desire, while simultaneously supporting the body systems that are currently out of balance. Detailed meals and snacks will be provided, along with recipes and handouts.

Suffering with diabetes, arthritis, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, allergies, sensitivities, candidiasis, crohn’s, colitis, autoimmune disorders, etc.? See how working with a nutritionist can literally change your life.

Weight-loss, Cleansing & Rejuvenation:

Even the best eaters overindulge during the summer months with patio season and backyard barbecues, as well as during the winter months with holidays and family reunions. This acidic diet of excessive animal protein, saturated and trans fats, as well as too much alcohol and caffeine can leave the body tired, rundown, and not functioning optimally. Learn how to kick-start and clean-out the body, eliminating it of toxins, while being safe and basic enough for everyone.

Prenatal & Pediatric Nutrition:

Whether you are currently pregnant, recently delivered, have a picky toddler, or are simply looking to eat healthier to help with conception, proper nutrition has a huge impact on both mom and baby. By working one-on-one with a nutritionist, you can learn more about the types, amounts, and timing of foods that will best support the health of both you and your little one. And, of course, dads are always welcome!

Sports Nutrition Training:

A personalized meal-plan is the key to achieving an edge over the competition. This can be a great tool while clients work towards modifying their diet and lifestyle while training and competing, without sacrificing energy and strength. Fight harder. Train better. Be stronger. Start with a personalized nutrition plan to:

  • Fuel training and recover quickly after fights
  • Enhance energy and stamina
  • Decrease inflammation and oxidative stress
  • Supplement strategically

Individualized Workshops:

These workshops are perfect for companies or groups, families, students or teens, to address specific nutritional needs or health concerns. Clients can learn the basics to understanding how to read food labels, effective ‘detox’ strategies, stabilizing hormones, tips for better skin, effective meal planning and time-saving tips, minimizing cravings and mindless eating habits, ways to increase energy levels naturally, and much more. One-on-one grocery store tours can also be set up in order to help clients stock essential foods and plan healthier meals.

Follow-up Consultations & Nutritional Modifications:

Follow-up consultations and nutritional modifications allow clients to check-in on a one-on-one basis and discuss progress, as well as any struggles experienced with regards to the recommended dietary changes. During this time, assessments will be made and further changes can be implemented. Working together, we will set and meet realistic short- and long-term goals, and create an even better you.

Online Options & Distance Consultations:

Sometimes it can feel like eating healthy is simply impossible because of limited time and irregular work hours. This isn’t the case, however, as our online options and distance nutritional consultations can make changing your lifestyle as accessible as turning on your computer, Blackberry, or IPhone. Any of our packages can be performed virtually through email or Skype and follow-up consultations can also be performed over the phone.

With the information provided by the online forms, recommendations regarding dietary and supplemental changes will be discussed and sent to you, along with appropriate meal suggestions and recipes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Follow-ups can then be arranged and performed at your convenience, where we will review your progress, discuss challenges, and make changes to your program if necessary. There is no additional cost for this option and it is extremely convenient for those with a busy lifestyle or simply unable to book a meeting in person.

All packages include a health history consultation, assessment, customized 7-day meal plan with recipes, and two 30 minute sessions to review plan ~ $250

** Review sessions may be performed via Skype, over the phone, or in person, depending on what works best for the client

 Follow-up Wellness Coaching ~ $50

 Individualized Workshops ~ between $65 and $85

My aim is, and has always been, to make teaching clients how to take care of themselves - from the inside out - financially affordable.

Testimonial Received March 8, 2013, From Client Jennifer Seniuk

“My name is Jennifer Seniuk. I’m a 6’1, 23year old female. Ever since I was 14 years old I’ve had a love-hate relationship with food. Today, for the first time I can publicly admit that I was not only anorexic, but bulimic until I was almost 21. I never understood how those teeny tiny girls ate bags of chips and pizza day-in and day-out and still remained skinny. I thought in order to lose weight you had to eat less calories than what you had burned in a day; the math had made sense to me. Obtaining this ‘skinny girl’ image I had in my mind seemed to be the solution to having the perfect life. All of this had led to an emotionally draining life that was controlled, consumed and led by my obsession to count out every calorie that was put into my body and the ridiculous hours spent at the gym. My mom had even caught me in high school sneaking weights up to my room so that I could workout more when everyone had gone to sleep. In university I would eat 800-900 calories a day and hide on a different floor to purge if I had eaten too much. I guess it didn’t help that no one in my family understood how to eat properly and everyone ate dinners in front of the television or on the go. No one ever taught me about food.

January of 2012 I had gone in for a routine physical, the doctor had seem pleased with how I was looking. However, few days later I had received a personal phone call from my doctor to come back as soon as I could. I will never forget the look on her face when I sat back down in the chair. She had told me she was astounded with how I could even function day to day with how under-active my thyroid was. I had assumed that I had been so tired from working full time and pretty much living at the University being a full time student. I was immediately put on a prescription to help correct my thyroid’s active and was told I would have to take them for life. I was also sent for an ultrasound and biopsy for the growths that had been found on my thyroid. Finally, when the results had come back the doctors had concluded that they were unsure what kind of growths the thyroid had produced but there was a high chance of them being cancerous. I think it had been at that very moment when I had hit one of the lowest points in my life. I knew that I had created this outcome from the years of abuse to my body. I was tired or not knowing how to properly look after my body, I was tired of not feeling healthy, I was so tired of fad dieting and then a month later gaining it all back again. I wanted to finally be ‘normal’ and know that I did not have to be restricted to tasteless, low calorie, fat free foods for the rest of my life in order to be healthy and look good. I had to start taking care of myself and dealing with the consequences of my actions. It has been just over one year since I asked Sara for help. I knew seeking help from a nutritionist would be the proper way to help fix my body. Just as Jillian Michael had said, ‘If it doesn’t come from the ground or have a mother, don’t eat it’, which had really stuck with me and made sense.

In the beginning, especially with hearing all of the recent news about my thyroid, the changes I had to make seemed overwhelming. I was terrified, everything I had ever known was going to change and I had to put complete faith in this girl. Sara, understood how I felt and we took everything at a slow pace, changing a couple things at a time: Eating nuts and dates for snacks, cleaning my entire apartment of anything that was ‘low cal,’ ‘fat-free,’ and contained unnecessary chemicals, taking vitamins. That entire year was about taking baby steps, rewiring my brain in order to see food differently, and trying new things that I never would have tried before. I had no idea food could taste so good and be so good for you. Every misconception I had about certain foods making you fat had been thrown out the door. It was crazy the changes I had seen in such a short period of time as well: my hair was healthy, my nails were no longer brittle, my skin was finally clear and I had energy like I had never had before. I finally understood what it felt like to be actually healthy.

In January 2013 I had decided that since I had learned the basics of nutrition that this year would be about perfecting and achieving ultimate results from the food I was using to fuel my body. Sara had given me a meal plan that worked for my body type, that was specifically made for my busy schedule and that would help me reach the goals I had in mind. I can confidently say, this girl knows what she is talking about. In two months I have lost 10lbs, and 12 1/2inches all over. I feel amazing and a year ago never would have believed that this was achievable. I understand that everyone has their bad days where you want to power through a tub of ice-cream or that big bag of chips but it is all about making conscious decisions. I will never starve my body again, and I know that if I have one bad day it is not going to ruin my entire life. Since Ive made these changes my thyroid medication dosage has been cut in half and I am constantly cooking and always trying out new recipes.

This is only the beginning, but I know that this is my new way of life and not some trend. Everyday I remind myself that this may be a slow process, but it is worth every single struggle. I hope that by sharing my story I can help others get on the right path to nutrition and to one day teach my kids a healthy lifestyle.”
