Yoga Instructor in Montreal's West Island - Nancy
Your Space. Your Schedule. Your Yoga Class.
Turn your home, workplace, residence, or community room into a comfortable place to practise yoga.
Santé Active coordinates on-site yoga instruction across Montreal’s West Island. Instead of registering at a studio, you choose where the activity takes place and tell us what kind of experience you want. We then look for an available instructor who suits your request.
Classes can be created for one person or an entire group. They may be calming, energizing, beginner-friendly, chair-based, or centred on a particular objective.
What Kind of Yoga Experience Are You Looking For?
A useful yoga class begins with the people taking part—not with a predetermined routine.
Before organizing the service, we consider questions such as:
- Is this your first experience with yoga?
- Would you prefer a relaxing or active class?
- Are there mobility limitations within the group?
- Will participants use mats, chairs, or both?
- Is the activity intended for fitness, relaxation, team wellness, or social participation?
- Would you like a single event or an ongoing program?
These details help the instructor prepare a class that makes sense for your setting and participants.
One-on-One Yoga in Your Home
Working privately with an instructor creates space for questions, individual feedback, and gradual progression.
The class can move at your pace. More time can be devoted to learning positions, exploring breathing techniques, or modifying movements that do not feel comfortable.
Private instruction may appeal to you if:
- large studio classes feel intimidating;
- your schedule makes travelling inconvenient;
- you want the instructor’s full attention;
- you are returning to physical activity;
- you have a specific movement or wellness objective;
- you would simply rather practise at home.
You may book sessions alone or share the experience with a partner, friend, or family member.
No elaborate home gym is necessary. A clear, safe area where participants can move freely is generally sufficient.
A Different Kind of Workplace Break
Meetings, computer work, and long periods of sitting can leave employees feeling physically and mentally drained. An on-site yoga class offers a structured opportunity to step away from the usual routine.
Santé Active can arrange West Island workplace sessions that fit into the rhythm of your organization.
For example, you might choose:
- a morning class before the office becomes busy;
- a midday movement break;
- an end-of-day relaxation session;
- a special activity during a wellness week;
- a monthly team wellness event;
- a regular employee class.
The session does not need to resemble a traditional studio class. It can be planned around gentle mobility, desk-related tension, breathing, guided relaxation, or a complete mat-based practice.
When changing rooms or using mats is impractical, the instructor may propose a chair-based format requiring less preparation.
Movement and Relaxation for Older Adults
For many older adults, the purpose of yoga is not to achieve complex positions. It is to continue moving, maintain confidence, and enjoy a positive group activity.
Santé Active can coordinate programs in private homes, retirement communities, seniors’ residences, and local organizations.
A class may explore comfortable ways to:
- move the shoulders, spine, hips, and ankles;
- practise coordination;
- maintain balance;
- activate postural muscles;
- connect breathing with movement;
- finish with a period of calm relaxation.
The program can take place seated, standing, or through a combination of both. Floor exercises are not required when they are unsuitable for the participants.
Chair-Based Yoga
Chair yoga is a complete class format—not simply a reduced version of mat yoga.
Participants use a stable chair as a seat or support while exploring mobility, posture, breathing, and controlled movement. This format can make group participation easier when abilities vary.
Chair yoga may be considered for:
- seniors’ programs;
- retirement residences;
- workplace wellness activities;
- community groups;
- participants who prefer not to exercise on the floor.
The instructor determines which movements are appropriate after reviewing the group’s general needs.
Possible Styles and Class Formats
The content of a session depends on the instructor selected and the experience requested. Available approaches may include Hatha yoga, gentle yoga, restorative practices, Yin-inspired sessions, Vinyasa-based movement, breathing exercises, and guided relaxation.
Some clients want a traditional yoga class. Others prefer a broader mobility and relaxation experience influenced by yoga. Both options can be discussed when submitting the request.
Where Can Classes Take Place?
The instructor travels to the client rather than teaching from a Santé Active studio.
Possible locations include:
- houses and apartments;
- condominium common rooms;
- company offices;
- fitness or multipurpose rooms;
- retirement residences;
- schools and educational settings;
- community facilities;
- appropriate outdoor spaces.
The location should be safe, reasonably quiet, and large enough for the expected number of participants.
West Island Service Area
Requests may be accommodated in Dorval, Pointe-Claire, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Kirkland, Beaconsfield, Baie-D’Urfé, Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Senneville, Pierrefonds-Roxboro, and nearby communities.
Because Santé Active provides a mobile service, coverage is based on instructor schedules and travel distance. Availability is therefore confirmed for each request rather than guaranteed by postal code alone.
How Santé Active Coordinates Your Service
Santé Active has provided mobile fitness and wellness programs since 2011. Our role is to understand your request, identify a suitable professional, and coordinate the service at your location.
The process is straightforward:
- You describe the class you would like to organize.
- We review the location, participants, schedule, and preferred format.
- We verify which instructor can serve your area.
- We confirm the proposed arrangement with you.
- The instructor delivers the class at the agreed location.
This approach is available to private clients, employers, seniors’ communities, schools, and other organizations.
Information to Include With Your Request
To help us evaluate your request efficiently, please provide:
- the complete address;
- your preferred days and times;
- the number of participants;
- the participants’ approximate age group;
- whether the class will use mats or chairs;
- any previous yoga experience;
- the desired atmosphere or objective;
- whether you want one visit or multiple classes.
You may also tell us about relevant accessibility or mobility needs. This allows us to look for an instructor with appropriate experience.

Introducing Nancy
Get to know Nancy, including her professional background, teaching experience, and personal approach to guiding yoga participants.
I am an experienced yoga teacher with over 1500 hrs of teaching experience and the creator of the All Abilities – YOGA – Habiletés diversifiées methodology. I strongly believe that everyone should have the opportunity to move, explore, and express themselves in a safe, supportive, and respectful environment.
My approach brings together traditional yoga, functional movement, mindfulness, creativity, and individualized adaptation. I believe yoga should meet people where they are, while encouraging them to explore what their bodies and minds are capable of doing. My classes focus on developing mobility, stability, strength, flexibility, body awareness, and self-regulation.
As a facilitator with the Santovas Foundation, under the direction of Jacqueline Celemencki, Ph.D., Executive Director, I teach trauma-informed yoga to children and youth ages 5 to 18 in government care through the CIUSSS. I developed a play- and yoga-centred program for children ages 5 to 12, along with a best-practices guide for teaching staff.
My work with children incorporates movement, imaginative play, breathing practices, mindfulness, music, art, and sensory exploration. I structure my classes around three elements: Check-In Moment, Movement Moment, and Mindfulness Moment. The children are encouraged to participate at their own pace and often help shape the theme and direction of their practice.
One of the approaches I developed is The Neutral Space—a designated area where children can safely move, rest, or express themselves without judgment or intervention. Rather than removing a child from the practice when they become overwhelmed, I provide a space where they can regulate themselves and return to the group when they feel ready. Through sustained contact and practice, I have seen children develop greater awareness of their emotions and demonstrate emerging self-regulation skills.
I have brought this approach into a variety of teaching environments, including École secondaire Des Sources – Cheminement adapté pour la déficience intellectuelle (SACAPS) and the Club de personnes handicapées du Lac-Saint-Louis, where I work with adults with disabilities.
My teaching continues to evolve through my work with people of different ages, abilities, and movement experiences. I do not believe every student needs to perform the same movement. Instead, I create opportunities for each person to participate, adapt, explore, and progress according to their own abilities.
For me, All Abilities Yoga means respecting what the body cannot do while continuing to develop what it can do.
